Service Description

Nidra is a practice commonly found in Yoga where, instead of moving, participants lie down or find a comfortable space where they can comfortably be for up to 45minutes. Nidra is designed as a guided rest practice. Nidra taps into your automatic nervous system inviting participants to relax into the delta conscience state so they can rest and restore. Nidra has been shown to be effective when addressing insomnia, anxiety, stress and some forms of PTSD. In this training we will explore Nidra as a practice, take a look at words and language that you find useful in a Nidra practice, and design a practice that is useful to you. What you receive. 6, two hour workshops on yoga Nidra 6 recorded short practices for Nidra and Meditation Practices A personalized Nidra practice of approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Week 1. We discuss the practice of Nidra and active rest. We will discuss your intention for the practice and what you would like to cultivate in your life with this practice. Week 2. We will explore affirmations and the use of affirmations in meditation and in Nidra practices. We will build a personal affirmation using our personal values and explore how we can use them in our own lives. Week 3. We explore progressive muscle relaxation and body sensing. We will also explore meditation using breath as a gateway to the meditation practice. Week 4. We will explore our thoughts and feelings and how they interact with how we see ourselves. We sit with our thoughts and explore the idea that our thoughts can be part of us, separate to us and sometimes conflicting. We will explore our felt experiences and how our thoughts interact with our body. Week 5. We will discuss our awareness in relation to yoga Nidra. We will also explore idea of creating a personal safe space in our mind. Week 6. We will explore integrating the whole Nidra experience into a single practice. We will explore what we have learned over the previous weeks and write our own practice that we find useful. After the course you can submit your personal practice to me and I will make a recording of your personal Nidra practice. Recommended items to bring: Comfortable warm clothing, a notebook and pen, a blanket, water and possibly a snack. It is recommended that you attend all the workshops. In the case that you miss a week a recording of the weekly practice will be offered. No discounts will be applied if you miss a workshop.
